SO…I broke my boards on my first attempt at my 1st Degree Black Belt Testing!!! Unless I terribly messed up on my forms that I don’t remember, I think chances are good that I passed. I really won’t find out officially until the belt ceremony on June 23rd. Mr. Buffington also broke his boards testing for his 4th Degree Black Belt, so it looks like a good showing for Dragon Brand Taekwondo.

I cleanly broke through my boards with ease, however I was extremely nervous until I entered the building for my testing. For the previous few weeks I wasn’t breaking my boards consistently. I was still deciding what breaks I would be doing as I was picking out my boards to break just minutes before my testing. I finally decided on a #3 Side Kick, Reverse Elbow Strike, and a Back Elbow Strike (a break I haven’t even practiced since last June).

I would like to personally say Thank You to everyone who came and supported Mr. Buffington and I during our testing. The crowd was electric as they say…
It was awesome that my mom, little sister and niece were all able to make it. Testing in Grants Pass was the best thing I’ve done in a long time.

I also got to be a corner judge for the first time ever at the tournament. I was extremely nervous not to mess up. I really only made one bad call in my eyes, but at least it wasn’t going to affect the outcome of the match. I felt a little out of place judging those a higher rank than me, so I made sure I paid extra special attention not to screw up during the Black Belt Divisions. I wouldn’t want to make them angry 🙂

That night, we went and saw WWE Superstar Kane star in the movie “See No Evil.” I was better than I thought it was going to be. Very little character development, a lot of holes in the plot, but it’s a slasher movie…what do you expect?!? I’d really like to see a prequel on the character of Jacob Goodnight, the guy Kane played. They kept flashing back to his childhood and I thought it would make a better movie than the movie I watched.

That was my weekend! Really awesome! I’m excited to finally be advancing in TKD, my old recommended black belt was getting pretty old and battered.

THIS WEEK IS PURE EXCITEMENT! *sarcasm* I get my 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Tuesday the 23rd! So I’m basically going to be slipping in and out of consciousness for the next couple of days. Wish me luck!!!

This Saturday, UFC 60: Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie!!! I can’t wait, I’d really like to see Huges put Gracie into a form of retirement. I was a huge Gracie fan until his the Grand Prix years ago, where he would only fight if the Pride Committee would change the rules to suit his fighting style. Fortunately Sakuraba beat him at his own game…This time I hope Hughes finishes it with a lot of ground and pound and hell icing on the cake would be to beat Gracie in a submission hold…preferably a rear naked choke!!!
