The American dream leads us to strive to reach our goals and for many Americans, their goal is to be an entrepreneur.
I’m a firm believer of be yourself, but sometimes you need to hide the real you from what people can find.
Here is a perfect example of when something potentially controversial that you may like, unfortunately crosses over to your company:
Now if you have no idea why this is controversial, then you probably don’t want to know. If curiosity kills ya, then just do a simple Google search (or Urban Dictionary search) for: “The Shocker”
Now this pic was taken by a friend in Arizona. In Arizona this hand gesture claims to be the symbol of the “ASU Pitchfork,” since Arizona State’s evil mascot is the Sun Devil.
I’m sure the guy who runs this Electrical Commercial Service is an alumni of Arizona State University or at the very least a fan of their basketball team, but for those of us who have heard of this in other circles, it completely means something else.
Which brings me to this little tip:
If you own a company or even work for a company, be very careful what you bring from your personal life into your work life.
Even if you’re a fan of something as harmless as a University, you may want to search other meanings or think twice. You never know if a potential client went to the University of Arizona and is a Wildcat at heart.
