September 26, 2006 will hopefully begin my last 2 years of college. As most of you know, I have registered for 16 credits in the Fall 2006 Term at Portland State University (PSU).
This summer has definately been an experience I’ll remember for my entire life. Being unemployed has opened up a new side of me I thought I would never see again. I’m more calm and care free than I was while I was working for Wal-Mart. I feel like I’m starting life over and reliving the summer when I was 19.
I already have my AAOT Degree which has allowed me to transfer to PSU with the status of being a Junior. The only reason I decided to start off with a heavy load of 16 credits is that I needed 12 credits for financial aid to kick in fully and one of the classes I absolutely need to take I’m on the wait list for. So in the eyes of financial aid being on the wait list doesn’t count towards credits taking, so I had to find another 4 credit class to get me up to the proper status. If the classes don’t seem too overwhelming, I’ll probably keep my extra class if it turns out that I get accepted into the class I’m on the wait list for.
Since PSU is located in the middle of downtown Portland, transportation and parking is definately an issue. A permit to park in one of the parking structures would cost me $258 per term not to mention the cost of gas and maintenance on my car, and a Tri-Met pass to ride the train into downtown will only cost me $140 so naturally I’ve decided to use public transportation and take the MAX.
There’s so much that PSU offers, it would take up an entire blog on it’s own…so I’ll save that for a later date.
Below is a list of classes I’m taking for the Fall 2006 Term:
Tuesday:
10:00am – 11:50am
PSY 345 Human Motivation
2:00pm – 3:50pm
STAT 243 Introduction to Probability and Statistics
5:40pm – 9:20pm
BA 205 Business Communication using Tech. (WAIT LIST)
Thursday:
10:00am – 11:50am
PSY 345 Human Motivation
2:00pm – 3:50pm
STAT 243 Introduction to Probability and Statistics
5:30pm – 9:10pm
PSY 300 Personal Decision Making
So as you can see I’m in for a couple of long days on Tues/Thurs I’ll have to be on the MAX by 8am in order to get to the school around 9:30am. AND chances are I probably won’t get home until 10:30-11pm at night!!! It’s a good thing there is plenty to do on campus and the fact that the entire PSU city blocks are WiFi enabled. So chances are I’ll be in the library doing homework playing around on my laptop. Wish me luck, I’ll probably need it…
I’ll keep you all posted on my University ventures in future blogs…
