I’ve made a new personal rule in my life. I am only going to drink beer as long as I haven’t had it before. Venturing out of my normal tastes, I decided to pick up Full Sail Brewing’s LTD 05.

First off, the beer was amazing.

The next thing I noticed was under my cap, there was a little saying. This particular saying caught my eye:

Full Sail LTD Beer Caps

“Lame Tweets Disappoint”

Seeing that they mentioned “tweets” I decided to look up Full Sail Brewing’s Twitter page (I’m sure that was their goal). First off I noticed they had over 6000 followers and were only following a little over 80. This shows me that they have a deep fan base and they haven’t over inflated their following by using the “I’ll follow a bunch of people and hope they follow back” method.

I wondered down the social media rabbit hole and found Full Sail’s Facebook fan page.

I was impressed that they had over 6400 fans too. I felt this number could be a little higher. Usually I’m accustomed to Facebook pages having a significant amount more fans than Twitter followers. Perhaps this is because Facebook has made it difficult to suggest to friends a company’s page.

Full Sail Brewing “gets it” when it comes to blending online marketing with offline marketing. I’m a firm believer that you can’t have online success without offline support. Full Sail used the print space underneath their bottle caps to reaffirm their presence online. For businesses, it’s always a good idea to mention that you’re at least on Facebook and Twitter whenever you print something.

Beer is a social product. People are loyal to their favorite brews and love to tell others about it. I though Full Sail mentioning tweets and challenging drinkers to not disappoint with their tweets was a great method to gain more followers and spark engagement.

Of course as most twitter users know, drunken tweets never disappoint 😉 . They are quite entertaining if you’re looking for a comedic relief at someone else’s expense… LOL

UPDATE

Here is how brilliant the people doing the social media for Full Sail Brewing are…

Only 3 hours after my mention of them on the internet, this is how they responded on twitter:

Full Sail Brewery Twitter UpdateNot only is Full Sail Brewing quick to respond to comments about them on the internet, they also thought out the messaging on their bottle caps. The “LTD” Series of beers have sayings where the words begin with “L” “T” and “D”.  It never occurred to me until they mentioned it, but it’s just another clever stroke of branding.
