Sunday, I completed the 5K Run for the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Challenge. During the past few weeks of training my time for the 3.1 mile event has been on average 45minutes. I don’t know if it was the pressure of running in a pack of people, but my time for the event today was under 40 minutes. I’ll have official times at a later date when the company who issues the timing chips posts the results. It was well below my goal. So overall I’m pleased, especially since it rained non-stop the entire race. I’m not sore, or anything, just another sign of my slowly improving health. I’m definitely doing the event next year and with a better understanding of the event, More people will be running and rasing money.
It was a great event for a great cause. There were a couple of celebrity guest runners at the event. Alberto Salazar, the famous NYC Marathon runner who recently has a heart attack just 12 weeks prior, ran with us. Also, Lance Armstrong was of course running with us as well. Both celebrities has such a huge police motorcade that no runner could even come close to them.
Pictures will also be coming soon as well. Thanks for those who supported, and those who didn’t, you can make it up next year!
It was also a great networking event, I was keeping pace with someone who was in the field of marketing who had some great pointers for jump starting a successful career. I also had the opportunity of speaking with some cancer survivors who were very appreciative of everyone who raced and raised money. To some the idea of running for the sake of creating awareness of cancer is dumb, but once you’re able to put a face and a story with the cause…It creates a stronger importance.
Once again, thanks for those who supported. Especially Emilie and her family who made a generous donation! Thank You!
