The first week of school is completed and in the past. This term is going to be a tough one and it’s only going to get tougher. I have three really good classes and I think I’ll enjoy them all, unlike last term…fucking formal logic.

BA 302 (Organizational Behavior): An interesting class dealing with Focusing on issues that are relevant to the three
levels of organizational behavior (i.e., individual,
group, and organizational). Key topics
include: the nature and dynamics of teams, personal
values and employee job attitudes, communication,
conflict resolution, motivation,
leadership, decision making, employee effectiveness,
and the impact of organizational level
issues such as policies, structure, design, and
culture. Techniques used to facilitate learning
may include role plays, cases, presentations,
organizational simulations, teamwork, and/or
term research papers.

This class seems like a very useful one my major and I’m looking forward to absorbing the info like a sponge. There is a team project that is due in this class in about a month.

BA 325 (Competing with Information Technology): The class is supposed to be about Presenting the key steps required to gain a competitive
advantage in the marketplace through
the use of information technologies. Primary
focus is to help students understand the information
systems development life-cycle and the
ways that systems can support functional areas
of a business. Other topics include: communication
technologies to support groups, productivity
software and applications, designing systems
for competitive advantage, and systems
reengineering.

From what I gathering, the lectures are based on the instructors very well experienced career in Sun Microsystems. For a number of years he was one of the top people in the company. The quizzes are based on the reading, but the lectures are just for our own personal knowledge and no relation to IT. There’s a team presentation in this class also and the instructor ranks us as individuals into three “stack ranked” groups. So more importantly that getting a grade, we’re in competition with each other because that’s how it is in the real world. The top performers get top grade. So I hope there’s not a straight A student in this class

BA 385 (Business Environment): Should be called Business Ethics because that is the only thing we are focusing on. The Class description say it’s supposed to be about the Study and critical analysis of the role of business
in its environment with special references
to the interrelationships of legal, technological,
economic, political, and social forces with the
business enterprise and to the legal and ethical
obligations of the business enterprise with its
owners, employees, consumers, and society.

Another Team Project…This one shouldn’t be took bad as it’s only a short presentation on a case about Genetically Modified Foods and how their creation ethically impacts the world.

All of these classes fulfill my degree requirements. If I go to school during this summer term, I should be able to graduate in June of 2008. About a year left on my B.S. in Marketing…
