I really shouldn’t use my phone as an alarm clock…
Apparently at 5:45am I got a phone call from my little sister Rachel. Not realizing what time it was, I hit the snooze button as if it was an alarm, but apparently that answers incoming phone calls…I went back to bed.
She hung up 12 seconds later…
Then at 8:35am I did the same thing when my Mom called.
Realizing what I had done, I called her back.
Apparently Rachel got the flu which somehow caused her and the baby so much stress that it sent her into labor 8 days early. I guess she had been puking so violently, that she caused a couple of nurses and her boyfriend to puke along side her. YUM!
Apparently since her and the baby are stressed, it’s not a good idea to give her pain meds. The only thing they could give her is something to eliminate her nausea.
So from what I hear, my little sister is not being the model patient. She’s yelling and cussing, and telling people to “F*cking shut up” while she is having contractions. I don’t blame her, considering she has to do it without pain meds. Hopefully she can look back at this experience and laugh and learn.
So at last word at 2pm she is still in the hospital, they broke water and she is about 6-7cm diolated now. So hopefully in the next few hours I’ll be an Uncle again to another beautiful niece. Oh yeah, by the way, it’s a girl. I guess they didn’t want it to be a surprise. I’ll keep you all posted.
The weather is going to be almost unbearable down in the Grants Pass area. I guess the Sexton Pass is supposed to have snow until Saturday. So there’s no chance of me going driving down there uphill in the snow in my little car. Even with chains. So Saturday, I’m going to head down, see my new niece, and be back up in time to be at school at 7am on Monday. So much fun…!
Good Luck Rachel…I know you won’t read this until you’re out of the hospital. I just wanted you to know that you’re in my thoughts…and I’ll see you soon…I love you…!
